Fifa, Madden and Battlefield players are unable to get onto the EA servers because of a problem with the company’s servers. According to a report from the websites such as Down Detector and Outage Report, the services started having problems from around 9am UK time. Outage Report reported a spike in people claiming they are unable to access the online gaming platform this morning.

Reports indicated that the problem was concentrated Malaysia, Australia, UK and Europe, but that may be a result of the time in other countries, since issues were reported elsewhere too.
It is unclear what the cause of the outage is, but some gamers have suggested the company could be suffering a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack. A Twitter account linked to the hacktivist collective Anonymous claims to have brought down servers belonging to Origin, the online gaming service owned and operated by EA, but none can be verified. Many fake accounts often post soon after an outage to claim responsibility for it, and all of the posts appear to be after the reports of problems came about.

EA acknowledged the outage in a tweet from its @EAHelp account, but did not comment on the cause:
EA is currently experiencing an outage. EA games, services & support may be impacted. We’re working to resolve as fast as possible.

For now there seems to be no way users can get around the issue, so all they need do is wait for EA to fix the broken servers. Does this affects you in any way?
